Another dress I made in May was this lace dress.
I have never been so into laces before. But when I saw Alicia Vikander in Elie Saab dress at the Oscars last year and Diana Kruger & Kate Blanchett this year – I just fell in love with laces.
So the fabric was chosen – lace.
I wanted something short though, so it wouldn’t be too much “gala”, but at the same time elegant. Something timeless but at the same time trendy. Another Kate at Oscar, Kate Hudson, gave me the idea. Her dress reminded me of the jackets worn on shoulders as cape, which has been quite popular for the last two years.
So that’s how the design for this dress came up.
What was the dress for? Gullruten – Norwegian TV Awards. Mads was going to award a prize together with his colleague, Hans Olav Lahlum, and I was invited to follow these two “crazy” guys.

I loved the idea of working with laces, but…
Sewing machine didn’t tolerate any of it. All the seams had to be done by hand. As this center back seam:
Or sewing in a zipper:
The ornaments on the fabric were placed quite far from each other, so I sewed some extra on the empty places so the dress would’t look too “see-throu”.
It took me some time… But on that friday night, I thought it was worth it – it felt nice. The handmade lace dress.

Takk, Wenche. Tenker du på den hudfarget underkjolen? :)
Wooow, Nadya …. Fineste kjolen jeg har sett nesten. Du er flink!
Tusen takk, Susanna 😘
