Holy moly, May went by so extremely quick this year. It started with “Mediedagene” in Bergen and then “Gullruten”. In between I made two dresses. A week after, we went to Minsk to watch the World Championship in Ice Hockey. Then I went to Copenhagen for Master-chef. Came back and had two exams at BI, while Mads was in Stavanger working for Norway Chess.
One of the dresses I made was an outfit for this pretty lady…
Kathrine Sørland was going to Petter Stordalen’s annual 16th of May costume party. The theme for this year was “norwegian”. Well, how should norwegians dress up to look like norwegians? “Bunad”, the national costume, would of course look norwegian, but Kathrine was planning to wear it for the National Day the day after the party. So we had to come up with something more exciting. What do norwegians love the most? Hiking? :) And what is a “must have” in every norwegian backpack? Some oranges, Kvikk Lunsj-chocolate and Solo-lemonade. Yepp, let´s make a Kvikk Lunsj dress!
We went to Stoff og Stil, Oslo´s biggest fabric store, and found some fabrics exactly the same colors as the chocolate wrapping; red, yellow and green.
Kitchen at my place was cleaned up and sewing machine set up.
I never had so much chocolate laying around on the sewing table before. We needed inspiration and some sugar :)
Some finishing hand stitches…
And Voilá, Kvikk Lunsj outfit, here you are:
We found out that it might be cool with the letters, like on the chocolate, so Kathrine started to draw:
In Panduro and Clas Ohlson shops we found some paper which can be ironed straight onto the fabric. So we started cutting…
…and trying on:
(I love when the needles match the color… :)
… and iron:
Or not? May be it was better without the letters?
While we were thinking, if we should or we shouldn´t, we caught Mads in stealing some chocolate…
Ai ai ai.. He ate 8 chocolates! But that´s fine, Kathrine and I ate about ten each. We bought 30 Kvikk Lunsj-bars in case we would need any for a necklace or a purse. We needed two… 28 were eaten :)
Both Mads and Andreas, Kathrine´s husband, liked the outfit without the letters… So we trusted our men and kept it simple!
16th of May: Party time! Look at this coolest couple, Solo & Kvikk Lunsj, what a backpack :)
Love this girl :) It was so much fun making this outfit!
On Kathrine´s blog here you can watch some photos from the party :)
While I´m writing this blogpost, the World Cup is on TV here and it´s the game between Germany and Ghana now. Isn´t it funny, Andreas is half german and Kathrine in this outfit actually looks like the flag of Ghana :) What a coincidence!
Enjoy the football game and eat some chocolate ♥
